Zoe Svendsen - Director Over the past five years, Zoe Svendsen has lived and worked in theatre in London, Berlin and Cambridge. Her areas of expertise include dramaturgy, translation (from German), intercultural projects and research. She also works as a director. Zoe is currently writing a PhD at the University of Cambridge, UK, on London international theatre practice and cultural memory, concentrating on works in translation. She has recently received substantial Arts Council funding to develop a number of international/translation projects. Recent directing credits include The Lover, by Harold Pinter (The White Bear), Try! Try! by Frank o'Hara (Cambridge Conference of Contemporary Poetry), Back and Forth (which Zoe also translated) for Context Theatre, and Der Gestiefelte Kater (Puss in Boots) (Berlin), as well as a number of projects for prison arts theatre company Escape Artists. Zoe has directed numerous rehearsed readings, including for Context Theatre, the Hotbed New Writing Festival, and the Revelations festival at the Gate, Notting Hill. Assisting credits include for Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin, and English Touring Theatre. Translation credits include work for the Schaubuehne and Lubricat (Sophiensaele), Berlin, and a current project reading and researching plays by Johann Nestroy for Moving Theatre Company.
